Second Tuesday of the month

Theologists is an open group who gather for pancakes and discussion on areas of academic theology and faith, led by group members.  The group meets every second Tuesday of the month.

Are you an academic? Do you consider yourself a theologian? Have you completed the Education for Ministry course and want to keep engaging with others? Then Theologists might be the group for you. It’s an outlet for all that stuff you’ve been thinking about and loved which is too academic for daily conversation. Come share it over a meal with people who might have some idea what you are talking about.

The Benedictine Group

11:00am to 12pm

The Benedictine Group meets at 11:00 each Wednesday, for approximately one hour in the library at St. Andrews.  We begin with a time of silence, an opening prayer, followed by the prayerful reading of a psalm.  We then read and discuss a portion of the Rule of Benedict.  We end with a simple noon-day service that includes intercessory prayer.  We take turns leading or facilitating our time together.

Our group consists of women and men, some from St. Andrew’s, and some from other churches in the area.  We also have a number of seasonal members who join us when they are in Maine, and often keep in touch with us when they are not.

People are free to come and go as their schedules allow.  We try to support and encourage each other in our faith journeys, as we follow whatever rule of life each of us may have.

We always welcome others, including guests or visitors.  Please come if you are interested in learning more.  You will be welcomed!

Bible Study Group

12.15 to 1.00pm

Participants gather for a lunchtime Bible Study on Tuesdays, from 12:15 – 1:00pm in the church library.  All are welcome!

This is not an academic study of the Bible, but rather a less formal engagement with one or more of the texts appointed in the lectionary for the upcoming Sunday.

Copies of the readings for the upcoming Sunday are available in the back of the church or online at  Most weeks the focus will be on the Gospel passage.

Centering Prayer

"Centering Prayer is a receptive method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us....  This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship"  (Contemplative Outreach Website).

St. Andrew's Contemplative Prayer Group meets weekly on Thursdays in the parish library, 11:30 am - 12:15 pm.  The leader chooses a short reading from scripture or other sacred text that focuses participants' attention during the silence.  A brief time of sharing insights is offered at the end.

All are welcome.

Knitting Group

2.00pm to 4.00pm

All are invited to enjoy great conversation, snacks, and knitting (if you like) each Friday afternoon from 2:00 - 4:00 in the church library.  A great way to make friends, have fun, and make something warm!

If you or someone in your home thinks they are a child, then you should come to Children’s Chapel.

Children’s chapel is a bimonthly children event, when we explore the lectionary stories through drama, art and story telling. It happens at 9.15am on the second and fourth Sunday of the month in the library.

Parent and care are invited to join coffee hour in the atrium (for grown up talky stuff), or come Children’s Chapel if you are feeling young.
