Excerpts from an Altar Guild Annual Report
In general terms, the duty of the Altar Guild is to prepare all things necessary for the celebration of the Eucharist or any of the other sacraments and offices of the church. This includes the changing and cleaning of linens, as needed; making sure the sacristy is stocked with wafers, wine and other necessities; and the candles are full for each service. This is all done under the direction of the Rector.
We try to meet as a group twice a year, before Christmas and Easter to clean and polish everything in the chancel, including all the vessels used for services. We are very fortunate to a group of devoted members in our guild. It’s a pleasure working with them. Anyone interested in joining the Altar Guild please speak to me or any of the members, or call the church office. We also are hoping to have some young people join us as interns to assist. Again, just let us know.
“The church cannot function at its best to the Glory of God without a loyal, devoted, loving Altar Guild. These loving servants, in their essential ministry, are truly servants of the servants of God.”
