Director of Christian Formation
Ben was born and raised in Birmingham, England. He received an Undergraduate Master in Divinity degree from the University of Edinburgh in 2009. He was active in parish and diocesan life in the Diocese of Argyll and the Isles, and served for two years on its Diocesan Standing Committee. Ben has experience planning and implementing Christian formation programs with young people and university students. Most recently, he was employed as Warden of Bishop’s House on the isle of Iona, which involved managing all aspects of the day-to-day life of this busy retreat center. Ben and his wife Justine live in Rockland with their daughter Theresa, who is 2 ½ years old.
In his cover letter accompanying his application for the position at St. Andrew’s, Ben writes, “Enabling, encouraging, developing and enriching the pilgrim journey of fellow Christians of different ages and backgrounds has been a part of my own faith journey and working life; something I wish to continue to develop and offer to the church. As Director of Christian Formation I would bring my experience, skills and enthusiasm to a faith community which already has a lot to offer.”
Ben will work closely with the Christian Formation Steering Committee and with parish staff to develop and implement opportunities for growth in the Christian faith and life. In order to be effective, he will first need to get to know us, and is eager to hear your thoughts and ideas. Ben will be with us on Sunday mornings and will maintain regular office hours, generally on Tuesdays. Ben’s contact information is: [email protected]
