The Benedictine Group meets at 11:00 each Wednesday, for approximately one hour in the library at St. Andrews. We begin with a time of silence, an opening prayer, followed by the prayerful reading of a psalm. We then read and discuss a portion of the Rule of Benedict. Currently we are using ‘Heart Whispers’ by Elizabeth J. Canham. We end with a simple noon-day service that includes intercessory prayer. We take turns leading or facilitating our time together.
Our group consists of women and men, some from St. Andrew’s, and some from other churches in the area. We also have a number of seasonal members who join us when they are in Maine, and often keep in touch with us when they are not. People are free to come and go as their schedules allow. We try to support and encourage each other in our faith journeys, as we follow whatever rule of life each of us may have.
In the past, the group has held “Quiet Mornings” (in Lent and in Advent).
We always welcome others, including guests or visitors. Please come if you are interested in learning more. You will be welcomed!
